Data Literacy Program for NCIP (BETA)

The objective of the Data Literacy Program for NCIP in the Philippines is to sustainably transfer data literacy skills to stakeholders within National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) who can proactively use data to advance NCIP’s mission, increase data literacy of other NCIP staff, engage in evidence based policy making, and improve the lives of Indigenous Peoples in the country.

The program comprises a 10 customizable units to support both technical skills-building and efforts to enhance a ‘culture of data use’ within NCIP.


Expected Outcomes

TRAIN OTHER NCIP STAFF

Members of NCIP staff who participate in the data literacy program will be expected to initiate a process to work with the World Bank to organize data literacy training in their regions to build data literacy capacity of other NCIP staff.

DEVELOP DASHBOARDS

Members of NCIP staff who participate in the data literacy program are expected to form teams and create an intial version of the dashbaord that they could furter develop to inform their decision making within NCIP either at organizaitonal level or within their own teams.

CREATE DATA-DRIVEN BRIEFS OR BLOGS

Participants will publish data-driven analysis/blogs on topics related to mission of NCIP.

COMMUNITY

Curriculum developed through this course will be published in an open source format to be adapted and used for others to increase data literacy capacity.
