Inclusive Education for People with Disabilities

Goal: Develop an online open data portal that will incorporate data from local and government sources, local and regional organizations, research institutes and the general public to track and map out implementation of inclusive policies in education for people with disabilities.

Analysis of Province-wise Budget Allocation and Spending

Goal: Use unstructured data published in the budget sheets to create an interactive open data web portal that shows the province level budget allocation and spending. Users will get easy access to the province level budget, and will be able to analyze it by using different filters charts. Using machine learning, predict budget for the upcoming fiscal year (Stretch goal).

Improving Women's Access to Finance

Goal: Using existing financial data (e.g.,financial institutions and women’s access to finance data etc.) to develop visualization and creative solutions to address/ bridge this gap.

Autobots to generate warnings for air pollution

Goal: Using real time air pollution datasets, develop an auto-bot (e.g., twitterbot) for early warning system in the social media. Participants may additionally come up with other creative and useful data solutions using these datasets.

Price comparison and calculator for vegetable and fruits price in Kathmandu

Goal: Use existing data on daily fruits and vegetable prices to create useful visualizations to compare prices, price trends, develop a price calculator for budget estimation or other useful data products.

Disaster vulnerability mapping at the local level

Goal: Analyzing the past events and data, such as loss and damage during disaster, develop a budget allocation tool.

Tool to consolidate alerts from Government websites

Goal: Create a tool that extracts and consolidates the alerts coming from NRB, Ministry of Finance, Department of Education, Ministry of Health website. The tool would help reduce information asymmetry and help entice public interest in Government information.
